Friends, Romeans, Country Fans…

Yes I am Lazy. I don’t know why I haven’t done a blog in so long. Maybe I feel like I don’t have anything smart to add to the art form of blogging, don’t think by me telling you this that it means you are about to read an amazing piece of prose or find out about some undiscovered gem unknown to mankind.

I’m just lazy.

Okay as you know we went on a cruise. I have to say I had a great time. I wasn’t sure if I would like being stuck on a ship, but it didn’t bother me. I think the best part was snorkeling with my wife along the Barrier Reef. I have never seen so many different kinds of fish in my life, and the reef is this living thing of beauty. Speaking of beauty my friend Wayne took a great picture of Holly with his underwater camera but hasn’t sent it to me yet… cousin Wayne? My favourite fish had to be the yellow tail Damsel fish. It was black with a yellow tail and had what looked like blue jewels on it’s back that sparkled every time it moved.

This is one here.

This picture does not do this fish justice. Head out to Balize and get your snorkel on.  Watch out for the Rum punch after, it will sneak up on you!

Oh Yea, congrats to Stacie and Norm. They got married on the cruise don’t you know. It was a great day in Roatan! The best Mojito I have ever had!

This is the resort it happened on. CLICK HERE

I wanted to thank all the fine folks who came with us on the cruise. It was lots of fun, we should do it again.

Here is a shot of just a few of us on board!

We also got to spend a few days in New Orleans. What a town that was.! You need a week there to take in all the food, art and entertainment. This was a great group we saw playing in the French Market. I recognized the guy sitting beside the tuba player. He had a role in the HBO TV series TREME.

If you haven’t seen Treme, check it out here and if you like good music in your TV series then you need to see this show!

I was asking locals in New Orleans how true to life the series was and most people I talked to said it was about 70% true. If you want to see some of what happened up close watch Trouble the Water

I was told some pretty horrific stories about what happened during that time. The town is still rebuilding but the people are all very kind. If you want to have a great time in a great city go to New Orleans.

I did have one problem while I was there. I didn’t know Rob was such a Fats Domino fan…

Don’t touch the piano!

All the food was great, but if you are looking for a great breakfast with great entertaining staff check out Camellia Grill in the French quarter. Sit in Joey’s section. He’s a lot of fun. Had to sing him a country song before I got my bill. They liked “I Got Nothing“.

Left turn...

I like Ted.com. I see so many amazing people give talks about a variety of topics. Here is one I saw today!

I’ve never heard of Amanda Palmer, but it’s people like this that inspire me. Maybe it’s their belief in the humanity of the planet. Her music may or may not be your cup of tea, but here is a link so you can check her out here. She blogs also!

It’s people like this that make me less lazy.

Cling to your roots and keep an eye on the Horizon….

I guess this would be a P.S, speaking of Horizon I want to throw out a huge thank you to all who came to see the show at the Horizon stage. There was a snowstorm that night and the power went out but you all stayed and listened to a more acoustic version of the 5 piece band. Thank you, thank you and thank you. I’m always grateful that you would spend your hard earned money on live music when there are some many options out there to spend it on. Thank you.

Love and Luck,

Darren
